Sidetracked on web page

Good morning everyone,

As noted yesterday, the web page progress just did not happen.

Sidetracked by volleyball all Friday night, and all day Saturday will do that to a person.

Plus I tried to fire up the trusty laptop Sunday morning, nope, no go.

Well, it was a good day to watch Boston Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots football anyways.

So here is where I stand.

I have registered the domain and waiting for my hosting company to bring everything up to speed.

I use www.Namecheap.com and let me say I really, really like them. For one thing the customer support is actually customer support. Pricing is very reasonable for hosting and domain registration. I will continue to use and recommend them.

I am also awaiting a reply for some shopping cart questions I asked to my shopping cart host. I understand this may be a little slow since I asked the question over the weekend.

I have a couple new ideas that I will add to my sales letter so it will stand out, (hint, hint, some audio on the 1st page).

So there we are, not much news, and nothing exciting. Except the audio idea.

I know I am making progress and I continue to reaffirm that to myself.

Golden Phone

A man in Topeka Kansas decided to write a book about Churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read 'Calls: $10,000 a minute.'

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle , Dallas , St. Louis , Chicago , Milwaukee , and around the United States , he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Massachusetts .. Upon entering a church in Boston , MA .. ........Behold - he saw the usual golden telephone.

But THIS time, the sign read "Calls: .35 cents."

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, "Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only .35 cents a call. Why? Why?"

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied :

"Son, you're in Boston , Massachusetts now, home of the Boston Red Sox, the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and Boston College !

"You're in God's Country, it's a local call.

Sox one win away from another ring!

Ten down, one to go.

Twenty seven outs, nine innings, one game, just one game away from reclaiming the title of World Champions of the baseball world. The Red Sox are on the threshold of winning their second World Championship in four seasons, a sentence that never would have been dreamed of five years ago. A sentence that never would even dare to seep into the minds of Boston fans far and wide. Well, dare to dream folks because the boys from Boston are that close.

The Red Sox drew first blood once again against Colorado and never looked back. A six run top of the third featured a six run Boston attack that posed as a seemingly insurmountable lead for the Colorado offense to overcome against a cruising starting pitcher in Daisuke Matsuzaka and an unhittable bullpen lying in wait to be called upon to seal the deal.

The top of the Red Sox lineup wasted no time getting the ball rolling in the top of the third inning. The “Table Setters” of the Red Sox lineup got things done all night long and were the primary key to Boston’s success in Game 3. Jacoby Ellsbury kicked started the action by doubling on a line drive to leftfield. Ellsbury’s partner in crime, Dustin Pedroia, followed up his double with a bunt single advancing Ellsbury to third. David Ortiz picked up the slack that the Red Sox would lack by sitting Kevin Youkilis by doubling down the right field line scoring Ellsbury from third and advancing Dustin Pedroia in the spot where Ellsbury had just stood.

Manny Ramirez then drew an intentional walk from Josh Fogg to load the bases with still no one out. The Red Sox regular season RBI leader, Mike Lowell, stepped to the plate with a chance to do some damage and he capitalized on this golden opportunity when he rocketed a single back up the middle scoring two runs giving Boston a 3-0 lead with still no outs. JD Drew popped out to short to give Colorado one out in the inning with two men on for the Captain Jason Varitek. Varitek singled on a line to left field and Ramirez was waved home and called out at the plate in a controversial play. He appeared to be safe but the home plate umpires opinion is the only one that matters. Boston has been lucky to be able to say that all the controversial plays that have been called against their favor have not gone on to effect the outcome of the game in any way other than taking away RBI’s.

Julio Lugo walked on four straight pitches and everyone began to assume an automatic out when Daisuke Matsuzaka came to the plate with a chance to help out his own cause. Jaws all around Boston dropped then turned into laughter and cheers when Matsuzaka surprisingly put a great swing on the ball and singled into left field and drove in two runs. Thanks to Daisuke’s hitting performance, the Red Sox were able to bat around and get the red hot Jacoby Ellsbury back to the dish and once again he came through for his team by doubling for the second time in the inning driving in Julio Lugo to give Boston a 6-0 advantage early.

Ellsbury’s second double of the inning and third hit in as many at bats would be the deciding factor in chasing Josh Fogg from the game after going two and two thirds of an inning giving up six earned runs on ten hits, ouch. The Boston offense was done for the time being but would later heat up when needed. Colorado put a seemingly harmless two runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth but when the bottom of the seventh came around and the MVP of the Rockies and maybe even the entire National League came to the plate with a chance to get within one run, he did not let this opportunity slip. Matt Holliday drive a Hideki Okajima offering to straight away centerfield to bring his team within one run of tying this ballgame. Two runs were charged to reliever Mike Timlin and the one run would be the only run Hideki Okajima has surrendered the entire postseason.

When things got too tight for Boston, they responded in the top half of the eighth by sending three Red Sox across home plate to give the bullpen a four run lead to work with. Julio Lugo got on base by walking once again and Coco Crisp entered the game and singled to follow up Lugo’s at bat putting a man on first and second with one out. It was then that Jacoby Ellsbury came to the plate with a chance to come up big for his team yet again. Jacoby came through once again by doubling for the third time driving in the speedy Julio Lugo and advancing Coco to third with one out.

Wherever Jacoby is, Dustin Pedroia isn’t far behind. Pedroia kept things going by doubling to the opposite field scoring Coco Crisp and Jacoby Ellsbury with ease and that was all the Boston bullpen needed. The dynamic duo of Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia combined to go 7 for 10 with 4 RBI on the night.

The four run cushion would be added onto in the top of the ninth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Jason Varitek to give his Boston Red Sox a 10-5 lead. With that sac fly, the Boston Red Sox have scored double digit runs in four of their last five postseason games and have outscored the Rockies 25-7 in the World Series thus far. Jonathan Papelbon entered the game and was asked to get four outs with two out already in the bottom of the eighth in order to shut the door on the Rockies. It took one pitch to get that last out in the eighth and he was more than ready for the ninth. Papelbon pitched a scoreless bottom of the ninth and put Boston in a position to win the World Series in four games.

Jon Lester will get the ball in the clincher for Boston and he is well rested and ready to perform. Clinching this game for Boston would be the icing on the cake for Lester’s comeback from battling cancer and making it back to the Major Leagues in a Red Sox uniform. This start was destined to have Jon Lester getting the ball with a chance to win the World Series. The Game 4 starter for Colorado that will be opposing left-hander Jon Lester will be Aaron Cook. Cook is the Rockies last hope to continue this series. Aaron Cook, like Lester, has not started a game in quite some time. His last start came on August 10th. Cook before he went out of action for over a month was 8-7 with an ERA of 4.12.

Another Curse against the Sox? NOT!

BOSTON—The Boston Red Sox, who have failed to win a single World Series since the departure of relief pitcher Curtis Leskanic in 2004, are attempting to defy the odds and do the impossible: reverse the curse of the journeyman reliever whose ghost has haunted this team since the mid-2000s.

Pitted against the Colorado Rockies in the 2007 Fall Classic, the team that for two long years seemed like it might be destined to lose forever has a chance to finally put an end to its 36-month-long World Series drought. However, the Red Sox must first overcome the famed Curse of Curtis Leskanic, which caused medium-to-long-suffering fans much anguish and heartache during the period between 2005 and 2006.

"It will take a miracle for the Sox to win the World Series as long as the spirit of Leskanic has anything to say about it," wrote Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy, who coined the phrase "Curse Of The Former Red Sox Relief Pitcher Curtis Leskanic" in March of 2005, when an error by shortstop Edgar Renteria allowed the Devil Rays to defeat the Red Sox 7-4 in a spring training game. "This curse will play a huge part in this series. Every home run that curves just foul, every dropped fly ball, every bad hop, every blown call—Curtis Leskanic will be there."

Leskanic, a right-handed set-up man acquired by the Red Sox halfway through the 2004 season, pitched nearly 28 innings for the team from July to September, and was present as Boston defeated the Yankees in the ALCS and went on the win the World Series. However, as legend has it, the Red Sox refused to offer him a contract extension, despite the fact that he was coming off a 3-5 season with a 5.19 ERA and 37 strikeouts. Leskanic, unable to find work in the major leagues, retired—and the rest is history. Since then, the Florida Little League team that Leskanic went on to coach has enjoyed unprecedented success, winning the Lake County Round Robin two years in a row and going undefeated in 2006.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox have made it to the playoffs just twice since 2004.

"I don't usually believe in 'curses,' but how else do you explain the Red Sox's early elimination from the 2005 Division Series, or their five-game sweep at the hands of the Yankees last August, or the fact that they didn't even make the playoffs in 2006?" said longtime Red Sox fan Gary Everett. "No team is that unlucky."

"We never should've gotten rid of Leskanic," Everett added. "Just think of how many more rings we'd have now."

"When [White Sox outfielder Scott] Podsednik hit that home run in Game 1 of the 2005 ALDS, all I could think was, 'Damn you, Leskanic!'" said Allston, MA resident Terry Bresler. "But if the Sox can beat the Rockies this year, I might be able to finally forgive Tony Graffanino for that error he made in Game 2 of that series."

In an interesting twist of fate, to end the curse, the Red Sox must first beat the Rockies, the team with which Leskanic began his career in 1993. Many fans believe destiny brought these two teams together—that it is only fitting that the Red Sox must exorcise the demons of their recent past against the very team with which Leskanic enjoyed his greatest success, including his 7-5, 6.23 ERA season in 1996 and his 1-1 effort in 1994.

"Ending the curse against the Rockies will just make it that much sweeter," said Boston resident Terry McMahon. "Not even Curtis Leskanic can stop this team!"

"I just pray that my son can see the Sox win at least one World Series in his lifetime," said Boston resident Sal Fischer of his son Cody, 2.

Many Red Sox fans believe the Curse of Curtis Leskanic was already broken this June when two diehard Red Sox fans traveled to Leskanic's childhood home in Homestead, PA and burned it to the ground, while others think the curse was lifted in August when the Red Sox won three games in a row. Still others believe that the ghost of Leskanic was expelled from Boston in April, when Jimmy Buffett played to a sold-out crowd at Fenway Park; Leskanic was known for not being that into Jimmy Buffett.

Curtis Leskanic currently resides in Orlando, FL with his family, and works as a pro scouting consultant in the Red Sox organization. When reached for comment, he wished the Red Sox the best of luck.

World Series Game 2 Red Sox Update

DAVID ORTIZ
Manager Terry Francona hinted that he is considering playing David Ortiz at first base during all three of the World Series games in Denver. "His bat is so important (and) there will be rest time pretty soon," Francona said. "But if we need to (rest him), we will." With no DH in the National League ballpark either Kevin Youkilis or Mike Lowell will have to sit out. We expect the Red Sox will keep Youkilis on the bench during the games in Colorado and use him in the late innings as a defensive replacement.

DUSTIN PEDROIA
Dustin Pedroia had his shoulder slightly "pop out" while attempting to make a diving play in Thursday's game. Pedroia suffered a similar injury during the ALDS against the Angels. He was able to pop the shoulder back in both times and it shouldn't affect him in Game 3 of the World Series.

JD DREW
J.D. Drew wore a compression sleeve on his right ankle after being hit with a pitch during Thursday's game. "It took a couple of innings to take effect and then there was a lot of swelling and soreness," said Drew. "We’ll just compress it tonight and treat it tomorrow." Drew remained in the game after being hit in the second inning. He will be fine for Saturday's game.

Heads Sox win, Tails Rox Lose. There’s No Stoppin’ Boston

They’ve beaten them in a blow out and they’ve beaten them in a nail-biter. The Red Sox have beaten the Rockie’s “ace” and they have beaten their flame-throwing ace of the future. Ever hear the saying “pitching and defense wins championships”? Ask Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling and the Boston defense how they feel about that saying. Of course an offense that has averaged 7.5 runs a game this postseason going into Game 2 of the World Series certainly helped, but ever since Cleveland went up three games to one, Boston has beaten their opposition in every aspect of the game that you can be beaten in.

Enough of the excuses of the eight-day layoff hurt the Rockies, it’s time to give some credit where credit is due. Colorado’s impressive run of winning 21 of 22 games and 10 in a row are long gone after Boston has broken that streak and then some as the Colorado Rockies find themselves trailing the seemingly unbeatable Boston Red Sox two games to none.

The starting pitching of the Red Sox has been phenomenal and they are doing exactly what they need to do. They are getting outs and they are giving the Red Sox a chance to win every game, that’s all they can ask for just a chance to win. Meanwhile, the Rockies starting pitching have done nothing. Ubaldo Jimenez hurled four and two thirds innings giving up only two earned runs on three hits but believe me, don’t let the two earned runs fool you. Jimenez failed to find the strike zone, much like his teammates the night before, and walked five Boston batters and hit another for a total of six free passes. The Red Sox failed to capitalize on the men that Jimenez put on base for them.

The Boston pitching tonight was perfect, you could not have drawn it out any better than they performed tonight to hold off the Colorado offense to a total of five hits all game (four of the five hits were by Matt Holliday). Curt Schilling took the mound for what could very well be his last start in front of the Fenway Faithful as a member of the franchise that he brought back to glory in 2004 and is still on top of the baseball world to this day. Schilling turned in five and a third masterful innings, giving up just one earned run on four hits while striking out four.

Curt Schilling painted the corners of both sides of the plate and dissected the Colorado offense up and down their lineup. As Red Sox manager Terry Francona walked out to the mound in the middle of the sixth inning to take the ball from Schilling, the man who proudly wears a Red Sox World Series Championship ring walked off the mound for what could be his last time and tipped his cap to the home town fans in appreciation for all their support during his outing in Game 2 of the World Series and for all that he has done for this team in the past four seasons.

The Red Sox drove in the only two runs that their pitching staff would need in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning starting with the captain Jason Varitek driving a ball out to centerfield that was deep enough to score Mike Lowell from third to tie the game at one a piece. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Mike Lowell doubled in David Ortiz to give the Red Sox the go ahead run and that was all she wrote.

Hideki Okajima entered the game in relief of Curt Schilling and he was the definition of lights out. Okajima stunned the Colorado Rockies with his “stuff” and baffled their hitters from both sides of the plate as Okajima spun two and a third perfect innings of work. Hideki Okajima held Colorado in check by not allowing one single base runner and striking out four of seven batters faced earning him Player of the Game honors.

When the potential National League Most Valuable Player approached the plate, Terry Francona took the ball from Hideki Okajima as he exited to the second loudest ovation of the night as “Wild Thing” rang from the Fenway speakers. The wild man Jonathan Papelbon trotted out from the bullpen gate in search of his first World Series save in which he would need four outs. In order to get that save, he would have to tear through the heart of the Rockies lineup.

Matt Holliday dug in representing the tying run as the top of the eighth featured a power versus power match up between he and Jonathan Papelbon. Holliday hit a rocket back up the middle that nearly took out the Boston closer and was knocked down thanks to a diving stop by Dustin Pedroia, but no play was made. The suspense was turned up a notch as Todd Helton stepped up to the plate from the left side representing the go ahead run in the eighth inning. Without seeing a pitch, Jonathan Papelbon threw over to first base and caught Matt Holliday daydreaming about his 4 for 4 performance as Jonathan Papelbon picked off his first base runner of his entire career. Little did Holliday know that that one play erased his 4 for 4 night from every fan back in Colorado’s mind.

Jonathan Papelbon retook the mound for the ninth inning with Todd Helton, Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe standing in his way. The trio saw nothing but 98 mile per hour fastballs from Papelbon and they all shared the same fate. Papelbon blew 98 MPH heat past the power/contact hitting Todd Helton to record the first out of the ninth. Garrett Atkins harmlessly lined out to centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to put two away and if this game were to continue it would take something from Brad Hawpe. Hawpe was simply overmatched by the power that Papelbon’s fastball posses as he struck out on a blazing fastball that he couldn’t have even made contact on if he had a tennis racket.

Game 3 of the World Series will be taken to Denver Colorado as the Rockies will see Daisuke Matsuzaka in his first World Series appearance. The only two Rockies starters standing in the way of a second Red Sox World Series Championship in four years are Game 3 starter Josh Fogg who was 10-9 with an ERA that makes you wonder how he got even 10 wins, 4.94. The Game 4 starter for Colorado that will be opposing left-hander Jon Lester will be right-hander Aaron Cook who hasn’t started a game since August 10th. Cook before he went out of action for over a month was 8-7 with an ERA of 4.12, in the National League mind you.

No Game 6 Champagne for the Indians

Champagne tastes as good on the road as it does at home.

A statement similar to that attributed to the Indians Garko was but one of the kindling that became a huge fire against the Tribe Saturday night in Beantown. Saying, and I'm paraphrasing; that the Indians would have liked to have closed out the Red Sox at home, but that Champagne tastes just as good on the road, helped fuel a fire inside the Sox.

Schilling came out and as I predicted yesterday, pitched like vintage Schilling. The bats up and down the whole line up of the Sox supported him. The biggest surprise; at least to me, was JD Drew's Grand slam. Holy Cow! Talk about jump starting your game! WOW!

This was a complete team win. One that brings back memories of 04.

Dice K on the mound tonight. This is what The Red Sox paid ALL that money for. Big time pitcher, big time stage. Let's watch and see him bring home an Academy Award winning performance tonight!

Bull pen arms should be well rested if needed tonight. 5 or 6 good innings out of Dice K, then bring in Lester, Okijima, Timlim if needed and then Papelbon to close it out, rounds out a solid night that will put the Sox back in the World Series!
Maybe we'll see another "Riverdance" by Papelbon when they win it all tonight!

Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening, depending on when or where you are upon reading this. :)

In a must win situation, the Red Sox down 3 games to one in the ALCS brought Josh Beckett and their season to the mound last night. WOW! What a display of pitching! After a somewhat shaky start (some would say, not I), Beckett settled in and began piching incredibly. Very nice to see all his pitches working, and working effectively.

Weaving his way through the Indians line up, he proceeded to pitch a stellar game. Along with some timely hitting by by his battering mates, Manny being Manny, and a "showdown" with Kenny Lofton, (I still don't know what that was all about) Seems Kenny wants to play mind games, but cannot take it when the hand is reversed on him, the Sox won to stay alive to play another game.

Game six Saturday night in Beantown! Fenway will be rocking, and I believe Schilling who is starting will be the dominate pitcher we have come to enjoy watching the past few years. Let's hope the Sox continue to have the hits coming from up and down the line up!

Still Alive

4 Months since my last post, but I am still alive. Gawd, I can't even begin to think where these last 4 months have gone. ramble, ramble ramble, oh, thank gawd football season is starting. GO PATS! ramble, ramble & more ramble, hell, I could get a job with abc, nbc, espn, or D; all of the above!

BoSox take Two out of Three

Ok, so after a crazy ass DoubleHeader Saturday in which we saw the Bosox & Braves trade wins, and a few hits, alright, ALOT of god damn hits, the Sox come back and win on Sunday. WHEW! Oh yeah, Skankees win one out of Three against the Mets to avoid a Subway Series sweep. I guess Torres job is still safe with Boss George.

Question, if you are the Skankees skipper, is your job ever safe??
