Scam Update

Last week and earlier today I touched upon and warned about a scam. How old this scam is I do not know. There may be variations to this, but I will explain about the one I know. I hope this helps someone.

Here's how it goes that I have been told about: A person contacts or is contacted by another person who is in Nigeria. I am not picking on the country Nigeria, I am just stating where this particular situation came from. As the two people talk, it seems that the person who is in Nigeria, is just there visiting a relative, when they say they have been living in whatever city you maybe in. Anyways, after a bit of time of exchanging emails or instant messages, 2-3 weeks, the person in Nigeria explains that they will be coming back to a particular city soon. They have to get back to work etc... Now here is the beauty of it. They explain that they brought a USPS postal money order with them, (hey, it beats carrying cash around with them). Anyways, as the scam continues the local banks in Nigeria won't cash a usps money order. They want to know if they can fed ex, ups, dhl, or whatever the money order to you so you can cash it and wire the funds back to them. Simple, I mean whoever heard of counterfeit money orders from the postal service. Well, the M.o. arrives, it looks like a real money order, it even has serial numbers on it from the city the person says she is living at, it is cashed, the money is sent to them, all done no problems. AH HA! Within 7 - 10 days, your local bank notifies you that the m.o. was counterfeit and your account has been debited!

NICE! For being a decent person and trying to help someone out, you get the short end of the stick. Of course by now, you can't get a hold of the person you have been chatting, emailing, etc with. And you have also eaten a $500.00, $750.00, or maybe even more bogus Money Order!

I have no answer, but I just want you to beware of how some people can take advantage of others. What a thing to have happen to someone, especially this time of the year.

Be safe, and I would love to know if anyone else has more info on this subject, or any other scams.

Scams

OMG, I can't believe almost a week as passed since I have been able to get on here. WHEW! What a week. Quick update and I will explain in detail more later. A word to the wise, beware of Scams coming from Nigeria! I know we have heard this before, but this one has a twist to it. It involves USPS Money Orders. I will expand on how the scam works or tries to work in deatils later. Must go.

What a week

What a week, WOW! This has truly been one of those roller coaster rides of a week. I can't even begin to tell the emotional highs and lows. On one hand we are on the verge of a major announcement, but yet, I can't divulge any info. On the other hand, this has been yet another great time in my life when true friends have helped me when I was down. Incredible, I am very fortunate to have the quality friends that I do have in my life.

I will say one thing, believe in the old adage, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Whoever thought you could counterfeit a USPS money order, just beware. More updates to come.

I know earlier in the week I ranted about the cold weather. That's usually just a once a year gripe for me. I got it out of my system, and I am ready to move on with winter. Oh ya, Bring On Spring! :)

To whoever is reading this, thanks, have a great day, peace out. Word

To damn cold already

It's not even Christmas and I am sick of the cold weather already. Dec 5th, high of 31 today??Daymn! I thought I moved to the south, not back to the Great White North! Time to pack up and head south of the border. Anyone have any ideas or places to visit?? My fav spot if you couldn't already guess by my photo is Cancun. Might be tough hanging there this winter due to the latest hurricane that blew through there. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Not my fault, or, don't blame me

I've been somewhat sick the past couple of days, but it's not my fault, don't blame me. I can't figure out college football games and why the teams that win, win, (except for Navy, Go Navy, Beat Army!) but hey, it's not my fault, don't blame me. Even my buddies, we joke at the tv, the reporters, sports and it's players and probably make polictically incorrect jokes, and drink way to much beer, but hey, it's not our fault, don't blame us. Gawd, I feel so much better not taking any self responiblity. I can now go out and lie, cheat and steal all under the premise that hey, it's not my fault, don't blame me.

NOT......my parents and the United States Marine Corps raised me better than the ego filled atheletes that dominate our airways with their multi millions and their "don't blame me " attitude.
