Wall Streets woes help with web page?

Greetings,

Ok, good things are happening and in between doing my Locksmith business, (www.sherwoodlocksmithing.com) thing are progressing on the web page.

Hosting company unpgrade from www.namecheap.com , done.

I went into my accounts page, located my domain name, changed server name that namecheap issused me.

I went to the control panel you get with namecheap as as hosting company and added my new domain name to my already existing name www.hotdenergy.com

Oh yes, I also registered my corp name, www.Lexzco.com that points to my Locksmith company page. I did that so when people receive a confirmation email from me, it looks a lot more professional. All emails from my two new sites now come from Lexzco inc.

Also, for my auto responder and shopping cart, I am using

They answered my questions about my auto responder and they are another company I recommend.

So things are progressing very well.

I have a couple of tweakes to do with the sales letter. Browsers IE, and Mozilla are screwing with my quotation marks around some of my sentances, don't know why.

Anyways, things are closing in on getting done.

I feel this site will be able to help people stay safe, and get their families, homes and business safe from crime.

TIPS FOR HANDLING BOGUS PHONE CALLS

Here is your March 2008 edition of Sherwood Locksmithing's Security eZine. This months Newsletter deals with Handling Bogus Phone Calls. As always, we hope you find the following article helpful.



They may say that their car has broken down and they need to phone someone for help. They may pretend to be a workman, saying that they need to check your electricity or water. They might even claim to be from the council and that they are carrying out a local survey. Whatever reason a caller gives, you need to be sure that they aren't just trying to get into your home to steal something.


There are around 12,000 incidents of "distraction burglary" each year, where callers get into homes and then steal cash or valuables while the occupier is distracted in some way. Sometimes they work in pairs, with one doing the talking while the other is stealing and they often target the elderly.



Be on your guard every time the doorbell rings, or there's a knock at your door. Look out of your window to see who's there first and if you don't know who the person is, open the window slightly and talk to them that way, rather than opening your door. Alternatively, have a viewer fitted in your front door so that you can take a good look at who's there first. If your eyesight isn't so good, don't worry as you can now get wide-angle viewers to help you see better.


Put the door chain or door bar on before opening the door and talk through the gap. You could even fit a small mirror to the wall next to the door so that you can easily see the person you are talking to.



When the caller has left and you've closed the door, don't forget to unhook the chain so that any friend or relative you have given a key to can still get in.



Make sure your back door is locked if someone knocks at your front door. Sometimes thieves work together with one coming in the back way, while the other keeps you talking at the front.




Keeping the chain on the door, ask callers from the councilor any other organization to pass through some identification. If you need your glasses to check this don't think it's rude to close the door and go and get them. A genuine caller won't mind.



If you're still not sure, ask the caller to leave and tell them to write and make an appointment so that someone else can be with you the next time they call.



The basic rule is if you don't know the person at your door don't let them in.



As part of the Government's "Stop, Chain, Check" campaign, local councils, social services and Age Concern centers have further information they can provide to older people. They can also help with door viewers, chains and mirrors, and in certain circumstances, may be able to supply a personal attack alarm that connects through to a control center.



Also, be aware of your local Police Departments phone number.

If you are not sure, CALL THE POLICE! Remember, They are here to serve and protect us!

How to select a Burglar Alarm

HOW TO SELECT A BURGLAR ALARM

Burglars dislike noise - it attracts attention. A barking dog is a good deterrent in preventing burglaries. However, never totally depend on a watch dog. Some professional burglars have been known to carry delectable "dog snacks" in their pockets and with a full stomach, some watch dogs make friends easily and forget their purpose of guarding the premises. The most reliable safeguard to protect your home and possessions is a reliable alarm.

Many types of burglar alarms can be obtained for residential use. It is advisable, however, that basic hardware security measures be followed first.

If additional security is desired, the following recommendations could be helpful:
1. Have a home demonstration with the alarm done in your home, not at their office.
2. An audible alarm is recommended over silent alarms for residential use in order to first - protect persons and secondly - property.

A RELIABLE ALARM SHOULD INCLUDE:

A. A battery-powered fail-safe backup.
B. A rearming capability and siren timer shut-off.
C. Read-out ability to check working system.
D. Siren sounding device that can be installed on exterior of home to alert neighbors of possible intrusion.

When shopping for an alarm system, please take this list with you.

SECONDARY BARRIER
If the value of small personal items warrants protection, a secondary barrier is an additional safeguard. On a hinging closet door, install a 1" deadbolt lock. Store your jewelry, furs, cameras, guns, silverware and other valuables behind this barrier. Be sure to "pin" the hinges and disguise the door as best as possible. ===============================================================

How To Burglar Proof Your Doors

HOW TO BURGLAR-PROOF YOUR DOORS

The majority of devices mentioned in this report cost very little. All of them will help reduce burglary and make your house or apartment more secure.

Begin with a home "security" check. Start with the front door and work clockwise around the entire inside of yourhome, finishing with the back yard, fence and shrubs, gatesand garage.
Shrubbery should never block the view of your front door. This allows an intruder the opportunity of privacy to gain entrance.

A wide-angle viewer in the door lets you know your visitor in advance. This item is recommended over a chain lock. ============================================================
LOCKS, BOLTS AND HINGES

A DEAD-LATCH is an inexpensive lock set which keeps the burglar from simply slipping your Door open with a plastic credit card. This method of entry is common in many areas, but very easy to prevent.

AUXILIARY DEADLOCK: 1" deadbolt, single cylinder with hardened cylinder guard, and thumb turn. For extra security, a single cylinder deadbolt lock, with one-inch throw and case hardened insert, is recommended for all exterior doors. If you have easily breakable glass within 40 inches of a deadbolt lock, it should be augmented with a stronger type of glass or plastic to provide adequate security.

Most police departments do not recommend double cylinder deadbolt locks for residential use. You may be adding additional security at the expense of personal safety with a double cylinder deadbolt. For example, you could lock yourself in and not be able to escape in case of fire or other emergency.

The RIM LOCK is a 1" deadbolt lock which is installed on the inside surface of the door. It is less expensive than other types of locks, but equally effective for security.

The "JIMMY -PROOF" RIM LOCK is another lock which is installed on the inside surface of the door. But this lock has vertical dead bolts, which is an approved device.

CANE BOLTS: 1/2" in diameter by 12" high installed at the top and bottom of the inactive door offers minimum security. Many homes with pairs of doors, use half-barrel slide bolts on the inactive door. These are weak and totally inadequate.

FLUSH DOLTS: installed at the top and bottom of the inactive door or pair of doors, flush bolts Offer additional security, since the intruder cannot get at these devices to tamper with them if the doors are locked. ============================================================
HINGE PROTECTION
Some exterior doors are improperly installed so that the hinges are installed from outside. To protect such a door from being lifted from its hinges by pulling the hinge pin, follow these simple steps:

1. Remove two screws, opposite each other, from both leaves of the hinge plate.
2. Insert screw or concrete nail into jamb leaf, protruding 1/2".
3. Drill out the opposing screw hole in the door. Do this in the top and bottom hinge of the door. When closed, the hinge pins may be removed, but the door will remain firmly in place.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME WHILE AWAY

Here is your November 2007 edition of Sherwood Locksmithing's
Security eZine. With the Holiday's approaching, and maybe some
travel days on your calendar, I hope you find the following
article useful.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME WHILE AWAY

Be sure to lock your doors before you leave, and let a neighbor,
(that you trust) have a key. When leaving your home, practice the
following advice - it could pay big, big dividends.

GOING TO THE MARKET OR OUT TO DINNER?

A residence, which presents a "lived-in" appearance, is a
deterrent to burglars. Never leave notes that can inform a
burglar that your house is unoccupied. Make certain all
windows and doors are secured before departing. An empty
garage advertises your absence so close the doors.

When going out at night, leave one or more interior lights
on and perhaps have a radio playing (TV Sets should not be
left unattended). Timers may be purchased that will turn
lights on and off during your absence.

Do not leave door keys under flowerpots or doormats, inside
an unlocked mailbox, over the doorway, or in other obvious
places.

WHEN PLANNING VACATIONS OR PROLONGED ABSENCES

Discontinue milk, newspapers, and other deliveries by phone
or in person ahead of time. Do not leave notes.

Arrange for lawn care and have someone remove advertising
circulars and other debris regularly. On the other hand,
several toys scattered about will create an impression of
occupancy.

Notify the post office to forward your mail or have a
trustworthy person pick it up daily. Apartment house tenants
should also heed this hint since stuffed mail receptacles are
a give-away when no one is home.

Inform neighbors of your absence so they can be extra alert
for suspicious persons. Leave a key with them so your place
may be priodica1ly inspected. Ask them to vary the positions
of your shades and blinds.

When you leave, do not publicize your plans. Some burglars
specialize in reading newspaper accounts of other people's
vacation activities.

If you find a door or window has been forced or broken while
you were away, DO NOT ENTER. The criminal may still be inside.
Use a neighbor's phone immediately to summon police.

Do not touch anything or clean up if a crime has occurred.
Preserve the scene until police inspect for evidence.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO:
1. Lock before you leave.
2. Trust a neighbor with key.
3. Set Your Alarm
4. Be a concerned neighbor - yourself.
